A: This service was developed by World's Gate, Inc. with help from other Global Internet Freedom Consortium (GIFC) partners.

Q: Where did you get the raw data for the analysis?
A: The raw data came from the server log of GIFC member companies. Right now, data from three of the five tools of GIFC (DynaWeb, GPass, and FirePhoenix) are included for analysis.

Q: Are the statistics calculated or estimated?
A: The statistics are calculated based on the server logs.

Q: How frequently are the statistics updated?
A: They are updated on a daily basis most of the time. In case of system maintenance, the update can be delayed slightly.

Q: How many sites are you covering?
A: Our database has information of more than 10,000 domains. But not all of them are guaranteed to be updated everyday. The more popular the site is, the more frequently the statistics are updated. We decided to do it in this way to make the service available, using our limited resources.

Q: Is the ranking information accurate?
A: It is considered very accurate if your site is ranked within the top 100. For sites ranked between 100 and 200, it is still accurate. For sites below 200, the accuracy level starts to decrease. For sites below 500, the ranking information is not accurate. The accuracy would improve still more if we could allocate more funding to this service.

Q: What ranking information do you provide?
A: We provide various results, including the following.
- Detailed histogram of website rankings, based on the amount of traffic in GB, number of page views, or number of server hits through GIFC network. (The ranking can be plotted using different time settings, such as 1 week, 1 month, 3 months, 1 year, etc. Also, up to five sites can be compared on the same plot.)
- The most popular top 10 and top 100 websites visited through our global network.
- The most popular sites by categories and languages.

Q: How do you compare this service with other traffic ranking services?
A: Our ranking is based on actual data collected from server logs, instead of estimated numbers.

Q: What should I do if I cannot find statistics of my site?
A: Due to our limited resources, for now we only cover the most popular sites visited through our network.

Q: Can I use your ranking plots on my site or in my publications?
A: Yes, you are welcome to do so for research and non-commercial purposes. But please include a courtesy line next to the plot. The line should read "Courtesy of http://ranking.edoors.com." For using it for commercial purposes (where profit is derived), you need to pay us a nominal fee. By paying us, you are helping to expand and improve this service.

Q: I am interested in more detailed and in-depth visit data. Are they available?
A: Yes, we can generate custom reports that cover different levels of details for your purposes, based on a fee. But data that can be used to identify a specific user are considered confidential and not shared with third parties unless you pass our strict screening test. Please contact us if you have such a need.

Q: Do you have a mechanism to correct the data and update the plots in case errors were found in the raw data?
A: Yes. We would re-run our program to update the statistics at the earliest possible time should we discover any error in the raw data.
